What is this site?

Shnork.com is a social mobile photography sharing and community service. Members take photos based on themes (i.e. "take a picture of something beautiful") with their camera phone and upload them to the site for others to review and comment on. Members can also create their own themes and groups to send themes to.

How does it work?

In short:

  • A user recieves an SMS message of a theme (i.e. "take a picture of something beautiful")
  • The user takes the photo with their camera phone.
  • The user sends the photo via sms to pic [at] shnork.com
  • All users can view and comment on the photo through the website

Do I need to register?

Yes, you must register in order to submit photos and rate and comment on other members' photos.

What are themes?

Themes are subjects to take a photo of.

Think "flash mob" with digital photos.

The service sends a theme such as "take a photo of something beautiful" via SMS to the whole community. Members then snap a photo of their interpretation of the theme and post it back to Shnork.com. Any member can vote and comment on the photos.

A member can also send their own themes to their group of friends.

Can I send my own themes?

Yes, members can send their own themes to their group of friends.

In order to send a theme, you must first add contacts to your account. Once you have contacts, you can organize them into groups.

Sending SMS themes can be done through either the web or from your phone.

Can I submit a suggestion for a theme?

Yes, use our contact form to send a theme suggestion.

Can I view photos on my phone?

Yes, provided you have a web data plan on your phone. Simply visit www.shnork.com/mob/ on your phone to see all the latest photos.

Do all phones and carriers work?

Not all phone carriers are supported. We are working to add support for all devices and carriers. If you experience difficulty using the service, please contact us so we can determine how to add support for your carrier and device.
